Sun Valley, Idaho 2010

We joined Colby's parents for our summer trip to Sun Valley, Idaho. We had lots of fun again this year. It keeps getting easier and easier and more fun as the kids get older and get to experience more things. The pictures tell the story of our 5 days there.
As I was packing the car to go to the airport, I couldn't find Boomer, until I saw him in the garage. He knew he was getting left behind, since he saw the suitcases. Well, not left behind, but a trip to Grandma and Grandpas.
We took a ride on the ski lift gondola to the top of the mountain for a beautiful lunch.
Grammy and Papa Charley joined us for lunch.

Bailey goofing around
Raif waiting for the gondola ride back down the mountain
I bought a slip-in-slide at Target for $4. We don't have a big enough grass space here, but it was lots of fun in Idaho.
Bailey kind of did a scoot and slide! I also used it, tons of fun!!!
Margaret bought lounging chairs for the kids to enjoy
Tubing at the river on the property
Raif even had a go at it.
He liked it up until his bottom got wet and he was cold
Bailey thought it was tons of fun, though.
Karen Taylor and her kids also joined in on the fun.
Bailey and I had a go at it, too.
Raif preferred picking up rocks...
and throwing them in the water!
Colby and Bailey built a little dam.
Papa Charley helped Raif out with the big rocks, which make big splashes!
Bailey and I cruising down the river.
Raif was napping the first day of the slide, but thought it was fun the second day. He liked counting down so Bailey would run down it!
Follow the leader!
A little warmer than the river for Raif.
More goofing aroundColby and his dad about to cut down some of the trees on the property.
After dinner our last night, we went to see the swans at the Sun Valley Lodge.
One of the swans.
Our last day, we went to one of the water parks to have a little water fun before getting on the plane.
Bailey thought it was tons of fun.
Raif preferred to walk around the perimeter.
I think he was trying to trick his Grammy into getting wet!

Play Time

Random things that happen at the Durnin house...
Raif found an eyeshadow from MAC under my bed, he learned that if he cracks the plastic part with his teeth, it's much easier to open. It is also, then, much easier to put tiny little fingers in it and smear it all over your face and hands!!!
Raif's new favorite hat, a tinker fairy hat from Disney on Ice that was the most expensive cotton candy my mom has probably ever bought!
I'm not sure what he looks like?
Bailey decided to go outside, pick up all of the dead flowers from one of the plants, and make a bouquet. She then proceeded to walk inside as if it were her wedding. She is obsessed with weddings, babies and pregnancy!

Happy 12th Birthday Lexy!

Lexy had her 12th birthday on Monday. We had tacos at my mom and dad's house. I was in charge of making the cake. Now, mind you, the cake was delicious. I made a boxed red velvet cake with home made cream cheese frosting. But, I will leave the decorating to my fabulous cousin Sarah. I took a picture of the cake, close up, so you can see how ridiculously BAD I am at decorating cakes. In my defense, I did not have a proper writing tool for the cake, but it is laughable how bad the writing looks. And, I have great Kindergarten school teacher writing!!! Anyways, we had a great time and we were glad to celebrate with Lexy!

See, I wasn't lying!
Strike a pose, Lexy!

Weekend in Avalon

My mom joined Colby, the kids and I for a weekend trip to Avalon. My mom had a little fall on the boat as we were about to head out for dinner, so we decided to take her for her first "Wiki Wacked" at Luau Larry's. If you've never had one, it's kind of a fancy word for a spruced up Mai Tai. There is this little cave there that we got to sit in with the kids. It was a short time there, since the kids were about ready for bed. But, in those few short minutes, we had tons of laughs and a great time. Raif decided that he LOVED dipping his maraschino cherry in the mai tai, which produce more laughter and ridiculous pictures. Bailey also kept calling the drink the "weed wacker," which produced even more laughter! It was a great little weekend trip and we were glad my mom could join us.

I love that the bumper sticker is upside down, I'm sure I'll get one of these same pictures when she is in college!

Raif thought I should wear it as well
Raif had a nap on the ride back home, I left for a few minutes and found Boomer next to Raif joining him for a nap of his own.

4th of July

The Family
Bailey getting a tow on the boogie board
Raif didn't want to be buried, I can't say I blame him
The girls had fun with it though!
I am about to be up to mischief!
4th of July proved once again to be a fun holiday. We packed up the kids and headed over to the bay with the Irelands. There were tons of kids to play with, and we had a great time. Raif lasted until 5pm without a nap and fell asleep in Colby's arms as we were packing up to go home. Bailey was exhausted, but willed herself to stay awake until 9pm so she could go up on our roof and watch the fireworks from the Queen Mary. Raif was also still awake and mesmerized by the fireworks display. After the show, they immediately crawled into bed and were fast asleep.
